Lisbon nights

Jumping from dock to dock
Running from bar to bar
Drinking from mouth to mouth
Navigating from bed to bed

Addicted to a bohemian heart
Long ago I've abdicated sleep
In return for golden dawns on a stranger's linen

On the banks of the Tagus my love never takes roots
The city's jealousy admits no rival
One night lovers tolerated, passion banished

Life is divided; here I abdicate the human longing
Lisbon nights always force me to sail away
Love is compelled to exile

And I leave, tracking love
Reloading my luggage with innocence
The affection follows new routes
Secretly suspecting I will always return
