Europa

An Atlantic breeze embraces a sleeping Lisbon
The Caspian wind awakes Baku
Larger than east, larger than west
4000 kilometres lay in between
For an endless fatherland

Identity shaped in stone, canvas and paper
Heritage in every street corner
Culture dispensed in a lullaby
Passion in a dusty bottle of wine
Soul incarnated in the flight of the falcon

Experienced, sceptical, ironic, austere, erotic
An old continent facing trials ahead
Door after door in the congestion of time
Outlasting rogue effigies of doom
Asking what have you done for her?

Virtuous wars became obsolete
But fighting is never terminated
A silent struggle to construct
Bricks looking for a place in a nation
Our mission, our duty, our destiny
